The result of the patient and rigorous work of a Florentine artisan, marbled paper is one of the main materials in our workshop. It allows us to create and shape a vast range of processes that start from the simple covering of everyday objects and lead to the great manual skill necessary in the art of bookbinding. Technically marbling involves sprinkling different oil colors onto a gelatinous bath which allows the colors to float to the surface. Subsequently, through the use of appropriate tools (such as combs or wands), the artist transforms those amorphous patches of color into designs that can be regular (as for the peacock and feathered styles) or more imaginative but very similar to the veins of marble natural (marbled style). At this point a sheet is placed directly on the surface of the bath, thus allowing the colors to adhere to the paper. You lift the sheet and hang it to dry. For each series of sheets belonging to the same color combination the entire process is repeated, thus making each specimen unique.
The singularity and unrepeatability of this paper are transferred to all the products that we create by hand, combining the everyday and the useful with artistic elements such as, precisely, marbled papers.
